Buddy Reading

We are super lucky to have Room 12 and Room 10 as our Buddy Classes.  Some of us went to the library yesterday to do Buddy Reading with Room 12 and some of us stayed in Piwakawaka with Room 10.  We love having our buddies to talk and read with and it is super special when our older family members come and read with us too!

Waitangi Celebrations

We learnt a little bit about why we had a holiday yesterday.  We enjoyed learning a new song called Te Wairua o Waitangi, looking at a talking stick, working collaboratively to paddle in our waka, make our own waka and then float them to see if we would make it all the way to New Zealand.  We think the Maori people must have been very fit to sail a long distance.  We also think it would have taken a lot of work to be able to paddle at the same time as each other.  It would have taken a lot of team work.

Manatangata Ako

One of the great things about Manatangata Ako is that the children have some freedom to choose where to take the activities.  Tahlia and Charli decided to become conductors, taking turns to instruct each other and make new music.  Ka pai girls!  You worked so well together, showing respect, integrity and excellence in this one activity.
We are going to take this further next week and encourage the children to write down their music for others to follow.  Watch this space for up and coming musical features!

Kelly Sports

We were lucky to have Kelly Sports come to see us on Friday.  We were able to have a go at T-Ball, Rugby and Hockey skills.  We were fantastic at sharing the equipment with a buddy and at encouraging each other.  It was a lot of fun.
